Employees as a think tank for new strategy

Using the brainpower and knowledge within your own organization to shape future plans together. In cooperation with the Royal Dutch Normalization Institute NEN, we showed that this approach ensures a solid and supported strategy.

From charcoal and pencil sketches to detailed line drawings; with input from many, the contours of the future for NEN took on ever clearer form and color. By means of visualization, all ideas were brought together and fused into one holistic image of Why, How and What: the future perspective for NEN and the road towards it (see video).

Believe in the power of your own employees

This approach shows that, as an organization, you are perfectly capable of developing a clear strategy yourself, with the knowledge and brainpower of your own employees. After all, they know the field, the customers, business relations and – don’t tell anyone – they also have a sharp eye for macro developments in the outside world. Moreover, they themselves experience on a daily basis where the internal organization can be more effective, better and more fun. Tapping into that knowledge to shape your strategy shows courage and belief in the knowledge of your own organization. Employees as your own boardroom consultants!

Managers are surprised

What was previously spoken at the coffee machine or lunch, we brought out and discussed interactively with each other during guided dialogue sessions. Managers act as facilitators of these group discussions and are amazed by the knowledge and good ideas available within their team or organization.
MT days, pizza sessions with employees, Captains Days and many dialogue sessions therefore did not lead to endless discussions, but rather to connection, enthusiasm, better cooperation and the creation of literally the same picture of the future together; a necessary starting point for the OGSMs at MT and team level.

‘Start with the end in mind,’ and create that end picture together. That should be the norm for every organization 😉
